Other Notes: Widow Jane BA (label says 10 months, Untappd says that was erroneous and it should be 22 months)

Brewer Description: (from bottle) Take a good thing and make it even better – that’s the philosophy behind Double Black Mash. This huge Imperial Stout was easily big and potent enough after the first mashing, but we thought what the heck let’s give it another spin. So we mashed it in a second time doubling everything that was already good while aiming for great. All grain, heavy duty, no nonsense. Did we hit what we aimed for? Well, that’s really up to you to decide. If you like it big and black this is your kinda beer for sure.

Intro: A 750ml black waxed bottle, 2023 vintage, with a best before date of January 2029. Poured into a snifter glass.
Appearance: A deep black colour with a thin brown head that dissipated quickly to a ring around the glass while leaving some lacing.
Aroma: Bourbon, light roast, chocolate, toffee, licorice.
Taste: Bourbon sweetness, chocolate, vanilla, toffee, wood, light roast, and a touch bitter on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Creamy, full bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: An enjoyable sipper with great aroma and flavours. Back to basics barrel aged beer without the need to over adjunctify (is that a word?).

Other Notes: Port Wine Barrel Aged Imperial Stout. Malts – Pale, Warminster Low Crystal 50/100, Warminster Crystal 70/140, Warminster Crystal 400, Roasted Barley, Black, Warminster Crystal Rye, Demerara sugar and White sugar. Hops – Hercules, Chinook and Cascade

Brewer Description: (from bottle) [in Danish] Gone Porto er en helt ny langtidskogt Imperial Stout fra Amager Bryghus, som vi har lagret i umådelig lang tid på store Niepoort portvinsfade. Det er der kommet en pænt saftig sag ud af. Helt uigennemsigtig sort med et cremet, lysebrunt skum. Duften er sveskeagtig og tydeligt oxideret – akkurat som en god årgangsportvin, mens smagen rummer både kakao og chokoladenoter, som leder frem til den varmende alkohol i finishen. Gone Porto er en hygge- og nydeøl til de stille, eftertænksomme timer. Alternativt kan den anvendes som standardøl til familiefesten i Tårnby Selskabslokaler. Se DET ku’ blive en fest…

[Translated to English as best possible] Gone Porto is a brand new slow-cooked Imperial Stout from Amager Bryghus, which we have been storing for a long time in large Niepoort port wine barrels. The result is a nice juicy case out. Completely opaque black with a creamy, light brown foam. The scent is pruny and clearly oxidized – just like a good vintage port wine while the taste contains both cocoa and chocolate notes, which lead to the warming alcohol on the finish. Gone Porto is a fun and enjoyable beer for the quiet, thoughtful hours. Alternatively, it can be used as a standard beer for the family celebration in Tårnby Selskabslokaler. Intro: A 500ml bottle, batch no. 648, with a best before date of February 2020. Poured into a snifter glass.
Appearance: Black in colour with an almost one finger dark tanned head that dissipated fairly quickly but left some spotty lacing.
Aroma: Roasty, dark malts, coffee, chocolate, port, red wine, oak, raisin and prunes.
Taste: Roasted malts, coffee, light bitterness, prunes, plum, dark fruits, raisin, sourness, port and oak.
Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: Interesting flavours of roasty coffee and chocolate and dark fruits. Port isn’t one of my preferred drinks though.

Other Notes: Malts – Pilsner, Munich and Carapils. Hops – Herkules, Chinook, Amarillo and Cascade.

Brewer Description: (from bottle) [in Danish] Når vintermørket ubønhørligt sænker sig over det ganske land, og danskerne gemmer sig i tykke klæder og trækker de mentale rullegardiner ned, så er det helt legitimt at flygte lidt ind i drømme om bedre, varmere og lysere tider og steder. Vores Vinter IPA er en hyldest til netop sådan et sted, som året rundt kækt hygger sig med sine behagelige 25 grader – kun afbrudt af et par forrygende snebyger. Tror vi nok. Smag på navnet – Bangalore. Indiens spraglede og krydrede mystik nærmest strømmer op i næseborene – akkurat som den bedste indiske aromahumle vi har brugt i denne øl, dyrket netop i smukke Bangalores opland.
Vi har specialdesignet denne intenst delikate Vinter IPA til at passe til AL vinterens mad – lige fra æbleskiver, og stegte sild over gule ærter til den fedeste gås eller steg med brun sovs. Selv veganere og palæo-folket har vi testet den på – og hver og en brød de ud i lovsang. Det gør du også. Vi garanterer.

Intro: A 500ml bottle from Batch No. 949 with a best before date of January 2016. Poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass.
Appearance: It poured a cloudy golden straw yellow colour with a huge four finger fluffy white head that sticks around for a while and leaves nice spotty lacing.
Aroma: A mix of citrusy lemon and grapefruit plus a tropical element like passion fruit, pineapple and a hint of mango.
Taste: Starts slightly sweet with some light caramel malts followed quickly with a blast of bitter grapefruit. The finish is quite tropical with a lasting pineapple and mango flavours along with hints of honey.
Mouthfeel: Crisp, medium bodied with medium to high carbonation.
Overall: Overall a nice IPA that is easy to drink. The bitterness is moderate as the tropicalness really comes through here.
