Equilibrium South Street Imperium

Brewery: Equilibrium Brewery
Country: USA
ABV: 8%
Style: New England / Hazy Double IPA
Other Notes: Double India Pale Ale

Brewer Description: (from website) Juice experiments are well underway here to explore some of the new toys we have at our new South Street facility. We had two leading theories on how to best use one of our new toys, both rooted in solid science, preliminary results both looked good… but different. So we thought… lets try both! We brought back the South Street version of the familiar companion set Experimentum and Imperium (Latin for Experiment and Control). Both feature our DIPA sized 2-Row Fractal fermentation, fractal grain bill, and a hop bill of Citra, Mosaic, and Sabra. These beers are parallel in recipe but not process. The difference focuses on two distinct uses of an exclusive piece South Street equipment and Experimentum utilizes our coveted Energy treatment process #twovariables. Both beers have a candy-like-tiki-cocktail aroma. South Street Imperium has notes and flavors of assorted citrus, peach, and crushed Pez candy with dank and slightly resinous finish and punchy rollercoaster of #EQJuice. South Street Experimentum offers flavors of bright tropical fruit, deep navel orange characteristics with mango and papaya in a distinctly succulently soft body while and crossing the finish line with our EQJuice. With the same ingredients but two different processes, a showdown is underway. Which one do you prefer?

Intro: A 1 pint can, canned on 28th May 2020. Poured into a Holy Mountain tulip glass.
Appearance: A hazy orange colour with a nice two finger white head that had excellent retention and left lots of great lacing.
Aroma: Citrusy orange zest and pith, peach candy, guava, pineapple, with notes of melon.
Taste: Orange, orange juice, with notes of peach gummy candy, dankness, and onion.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Aroma was nice, but taste didn’t quite match for me. I preferred Experimentum just that slightly more.

Equilibrium Super Fractal Kangaroo Set

Brewery: Equilibrium Brewery
Country: USA
ABV: 10%
Style: New England / Hazy Triple IPA
Other Notes: Triple India Pale Ale

Brewer Description: (from website) On Pete’s recent trip to Australia, he created a new Super Fractal without even knowing it. A can of Come At Me, Bro pictured with some of our new found friends being fresh sticking out her tongue with the baby roo looking longingly waiting for his 21st bday (look closely on the label). These are BuckWild Roos inside Roos inside Roos inside Roos with those Limited edition Payton Roo shoes. With Aussie forward hops and a picture like that, Super Fractal Kangaroo Set was born. (Note: no Roos were actually allowed to drink).
Super Fractal Kangaroo Set starts off with a fractal grain bill and keeping the hops All Aussie Everything, Galaxy leads the way on the dry hop with some support from Sabro and Citra. Super Fractal Kangaroo set pours a hazy intense yellow with aromas of tropical fruit, coconut, and assorted citrus. The flavors of orange, melon, and gummy bears permeate with under an umbrella of Pina colada. Tiki drinks on an Australian beach come to mind with each sip. This beer is extremely smooth for its size and contains our explosive #EQjuice profile giving you melon and gummy notes on the backend. It’s a great example of what happens with you let your mind fractals flow freely. Drink responsibly and enjoy this Kaleidoscope of Roos raised to the fifth dimension.

Intro: A 1 pint can with no clear canned on or best before date, although I believe it was canned on 8th May 2020. Poured into a Holy Mountain tulip glass.
Appearance: A hazy orange colour with a one finger white head that had good retention and left lots of nice lacing.
Aroma: Strong citrus, orange pulp, orange juice, mango, pineapple, coconut, with notes of melon.
Taste: Citrus rind, mandarin, orange, melon, pineapple, and notes of coconut.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, full bodied with soft to moderate carbonation.
Overall: Lots of fruit going on here, and although not my favourite combination, it was still enjoyable. In addition the alcohol was well hidden such that it was easy to drink.

Equilibrium mc²

Brewery: Equilibrium Brewery
Country: USA
ABV: 8%
Style: American Double IPA
Other Notes: Photon . Squared . DIPA

Brewer Description: (from website) mc² is Photon’s big brother. We literally took Photon’s hopping rate and squared it. This DIPA is our tribute to the amazing relationship that energy and mass are balanced, proportional to the speed of a photon squared. It pours a hazy tangerine color, releasing bright tropical notes of mango, pineapple, and apricot. mc² tastes like succulent mango juice loaded with chewy hop resins. It’s very drinkable for 8.0%; be careful, this one can sneak up on you.

Intro: A 1 pint can, with no canned on or best before date. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.
Appearance: A hazy dark orange colour with a two finger fluffy pillowy white head that had excellent retention and left lots of nice sticky lacing.
Aroma: Every time I give it a swirl, it gives me a blast of this wonderful fresh mango juice aroma. As it settles, hints of grapefruit, mandarin peel and pine appear.
Taste: Tropical and citrusy fruits with mango, papaya, melon, grapefruit and citrus rind juiciness at the beginning followed by a nice light lingering bitterness and spice on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Creamy, medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Taste doesn’t quite live up to the stunning aromas that I experienced, but nonetheless, its juicy, refreshing and easy to drink.
