Mikkeller George

Brewery: Mikkeller ApS
Country: Denmark
ABV: 12.12%
Style: American Imperial Stout
Other Notes: Brewed & bottled by Mikkeller at Lervig Aktiebryggeri, Norway

Brewer Description: (from Mikkeller webshop) Ever been punched in the face by a beer? Our pal George offers anyone willing to try, a thick and oily fist right to the nose. His balance skills are off the charts, but we went ahead and soaked him in bourbon barrels, just to shake things up even more. Good for as many rounds as you can muster up to.

Intro: A 330ml can with a best before date of 5th July 2019. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass.
Appearance: A lightly hazy ruby red colour with a two finger pinkish head that dissipated fairly quickly but left lots of nice lacing.
Aroma: Cherry, cherry candy, lightly tart, light funk.
Taste: Lightly sour, lightly tart, cherry, cherry candy, touch of wheat.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied with high carbonation.
Overall: Aroma and flavours were quite nice with strong cherry candy notes. However I guess it just wasn’t exactly what I expected since ‘Double Sour Cherry’ is in its name, and it just wasn’t that sour at all.

Mikkeller Raspberry Quadrupel

Brewery: Mikkeller ApS

Other Notes: Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proef Brouwerij, Belgium

My ratebeer.com rating: 3.9

Intro: A 330ml bottle with a best before date of 20th January 2020. Poured into a Chimay goblet glass.
Appearance: A murky dark brown colour with a one finger tanned head that settled fairly quickly to a thin but replenishing layer, while leaving some nice lacing.
Aroma: Raspberry jam, very intensely jammy with only a hint of any roast and chocolate.
Taste: Raspberry, raspberry juice, raspberry jam, boozy raspberry. It’s sweet, on the borderline of being overly so, but still ok. Sourness follows soon afterwards along with lots of dark fruit, raisin, prunes, plum, fig, and hints of dark malt, roastiness, and chocolate.
Mouthfeel: Creamy, full bodied with soft carbonation and a touch of booze.
Overall: I loved the intense jammy raspberry aroma and while taste was just as jammy, it was on the borderline of being too sweet, and this combination of sweet and booze is not my favourite.

Mikkeller Henry & Sally’s IPA

Brewery: Mikkeller ApS
Country: Denmark
ABV: 6%
Style: American IPA
Other Notes: Brewed by Mikkeller at Gweilo Brewery, Hong Kong

Brewer Description: Not much in the way of official description I could find.

My rating: 3
My beeradvocate.com rating: 3.43
My ratebeer.com rating: 3.4

Intro: A 330ml can, with a best before date of 2nd November 2019. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.
Appearance: A moderately hazy golden yellow colour with a two finger white head that had decent retention while leaving some nice lacing.
Aroma: Lemon tea, apricot, lemon zest, pine and grass.
Taste: Grapefruit, apricot, floral, pine, lemon zest and grass.
Mouthfeel: Medium to light bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: An easy drinking IPA, although the floral notes weren’t my favourite. The one good thing was that Mikkeller brewing some of their recipes in Hong Kong means it should be easier to get some fresher beers.
