Intro: A 375ml bottle with a best before date of 20th February 2018. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass. Appearance: It was a hazy dark amber, reddish brown colour with a one finger off white head that dissipated fairly quickly to just the edges, while leaving sparse to no lacing. Aroma: Prunes, grape, white wine, oak, lightly tart and mildly funky. Taste: Brett, prunes and vinous white wine with some light caramel and wood. Mouthfeel: Dry, medium bodied with moderate to low carbonation. Overall: This was interesting to try but perhaps not quite my thing.

Intro: A 330ml bottle with a best before date of 17th May 2018. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass. Appearance: Black in colour with a one finger dark tanned head that dissipated fairly quickly while leaving some sparse spotty lacing. Aroma: Roasted malts and coffee with a light smokiness. There is also some chocolate and liquorice in the background. Taste: Rich bittersweet chocolate, coffee powder, light burnt smokiness with hints of liquorice and prunes. Nice balance of sweet and bitter. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate to low carbonation. Overall: I think I was surprised about how good this was, in particular that rich bittersweet chocolate flavour. Very enjoyable.

Intro: A 330ml bottle with a best before date of 13th May 2019 (seems a bit long to me, but anyway). Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass. Appearance: Very dark brown in colour with a two finger brown head that had decent retention while leaving only sparse to no lacing. Aroma: Roasty malts, chocolate and coffee with a hint of plum and prunes. Taste: Dark fruit sweetness like plum at the beginning, followed by lots of roasty-ness and dark chocolate bitter sweetness. Finish is definitely more bitter than sweet. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with light to moderate carbonation. Overall: This was enjoyable, especially the bittersweet chocolatey finish.

Intro: A 330ml can with a best before date of 15th November 2017. Poured into a Mikkeller tasting glass. Appearance: A hazy dark orange colour with a two finger white head that had good retention and left nice lacing. Aroma: Candied pineapple, passion fruit, grapefruit, pine and caramel. Taste: Sweet and only lightly bitter, caramel, citrus rind, honey, pine and surprisingly strong alcohol especially since it was well hidden with Citra and Mosaic. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall: Aromas were pretty nice but the surprisingly strong alcohol in the taste was not pleasant on the palate. Not as good as Citra and Mosaic.

Appearance: A lightly hazy dark golden orange colour with a two finger white head with good retention and left nice lacing. Aroma: Nice pineapple, pine, citrusy orange, peach and hints of caramel. Taste: Bittersweet candied pineapple, pine and lemon tea on top of sweet caramel malt. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall: Tasty and enjoyable. Easily the best out of Cascade, Citra and Simcoe.
