Intro: A 750ml bottle, brewed in 2019, bottled in 2023, poured into a Tilquin stemmed glass.
Appearance: A lightly hazy golden orange colour with a big two finger white head that dissipated fairly quickly to a thin cap, while leaving fluffy lacing.
Aroma: Oak, barrel, vanilla, fruit cake, lemon zest, lime, candied orange, white wine grapes, damp wood, with a touch of funk.
Taste: Very lightly sour and tart, oak, vanilla, lemon zest, lime, candied orange, damp wood, and light funk.
Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: An enjoyable sipper with strong barrel character and good complexities in both aroma and flavour.

Tilquin Oude Pêche Jaune À l’ancienne

Brewer Description: (from bottle) Beer of spontaneous fermentation, the Old Pêche Jaune Tilquin is made from the fermentation of 230g of peaches by liter of lambic. Unfiltered and unpasteurized, this beer is refermented in the bottle.

Intro: A 750ml corked and caged bottle, with a neck label of 2022-2023, and a best before date of 21st December 2032. Poured into a Tilquin stemmed glass.
Appearance: A slightly hazy golden colour with a one finger white head that had pretty good retention, and eventually settled to a ring around the glass, while leaving some lacing.
Aroma: Tart, sour peach gummy candy, green apple, lemon zest, with notes of damp wood.
Taste: Sour, tart, sour peaches, lemon, with a touch of green apple, damp wood, and funk.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: My first thought was that it was too sour, perhaps even a bit harsh. But the aroma was great, and this definitely grew on me, to the point that it became enjoyable.

Tilquin Oude Mourvèdre À l’ancienne

Intro: A 750ml corked and caged bottle, with a neck label of 2022-2023, and a best before date of 1st February 2033. Poured into a Tilquin stemmed glass.
Appearance: A lightly hazy pinkish orange colour with a one finger white head that dissipated fairly quickly to a ring around the glass, while leaving only sparse lacing.
Aroma: Sparkly citric, candied mixed berries, fruity red to rose vinous, red wine grapes, grape skin, blueberries, lemon zest, 7-Up, with light woody notes and a touch of funk.
Taste: Lightly sour, candied sour mixed berries, blackcurrant, rose wine, red wine grapes, grape skin, lemon, lemon zest, with light notes of wood and funk.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: It may not be very complex, but the aroma and flavours just work for me, and I enjoyed it a lot.

Tilquin Pinot Meunier sur marc

Intro: A 750ml corked and caged bottle, with a neck label of 2021-2022, and a best before date of 21st June 2032. Poured into a Tilquin stemmed glass.
Appearance: A mostly clear orange pinkish colour with a very thin white head that dissipated quickly, and left no lacing.
Aroma: Tart, red wine grapes, grape skin, grape seed, wood, sweet plum, raspberry, lemon zest, and a touch floral.
Taste: Sour, tart, redcurrant, grape skin, sour plum, lemon zest, grapefruit, with notes of grape seed and wood on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: Aroma was great, and the flavour was fine, but not better than the Tilquin Oude Pinot Meunier À l’ancienne in my opinion.

Tilquin Oude Roussanne À l’ancienne

Intro: A 750ml corked and caged bottle, with a neck label of 2021-2022, and a best before date of 15th December 2031. Poured into a Tilquin stemmed glass.
Appearance: A slightly hazy golden colour, with a one finger white head that dissipated fairly quickly, while leaving only sparse lacing.
Aroma: Citrus zest, lemon peel, grape skin, white wine vinous, wood, green vines, and a touch of funkiness.
Taste: Lightly tart, grape must, white wine vinous, lemon zest, yellow stone fruit, apricot, wood, funk, with a finish of white wine vinegar and honey sweetness.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate to soft carbonation.
Overall: Enjoyable, balanced and easy drinking with good aroma and flavours.
