Popihn IPA Amarillo / Citra / Mosaic

ABV: 6.2%
Style: American IPA
Other Notes: 40 IBU

Brewer Description: (from bottle) IPA – Amarillo / Citra / Mosaic.

Intro: A 330ml bottle with a best before date of 5th November 2018. Poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass.
Appearance: A hazy dark orange yellow colour with a huge uncontrollable head that just goes crazy no matter how careful or slowly you pour it. Retention of the head was excellent but quite frankly in this case it was really annoying as I barely poured anything into the glass before the head just exploded and this meant it took forever to pour even a decent amount of beer into the glass. Lacing was ok.
Aroma: Tropical melon, guava, passionfruit followed by citrusy orange and grapefruit rind and even a touch of unripe mango at the end.
Taste: Lightly bitter, grapefruit and orange pith, with hints of melon, guava and passionfruit.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Interesting flavours of guava, passionfruit and melon, but the pour was just troublesome.

Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing IPA

Brewery: Sierra Nevada Brewing Company
Country: USA
ABV: 6.7%
Style: American IPA
Other Notes: 40 IBUs. Malts – Two-row Pale, Munich, Oats and Wheat. Hops – Magnum, Citra, Comet, Simcoe, El Dorado and Mosaic

Brewer Description: (from website) A hop-heavy, unfiltered, hazy little thing called IPA. As brewers, we get the privilege to sample our beers straight from the tanks in all their raw glory. Some beers need a little polishing to get ready to go out into the world, while others—the hop-heavy, rowdy, crowd-pleasers—should just be left alone. We wanted to share this brewery-only treat with you, so we present this Hazy Little Thing, our unfiltered, unprocessed IPA, straight from the tanks and into the can.

Aroma: Orange, mandarin, lemon, citrus zest and rind, pine with hints of bread.

Intro: A 330ml bottle with a best before date of 18th October 2018. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.
Appearance: A hazy orange colour with a big rather uncontrollable four finger white head that had good retention and left some nice lacing.
Aroma: Unripe apricot and peach with hints of lime, apple, banana, clove and grains.
Taste: Lightly sweet, green apple, banana, clove, grainy, maybe wheat, grass and a touch floral.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied with moderate to high prickly carbonation.
Overall: I’m not sure about this one. It doesn’t taste or smell bad, but at the same time, it doesn’t really seem like an IPA.

Intro: A 330ml bottle with a best before date of 12th September 2018. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.
Appearance: A hazy golden orange colour with a big three finger white head that had good retention and left lots of nice lacing.
Aroma: Pineapple, candied citrus zest, mandarin, pine and lightly floral.
Taste: Lightly bitter, grapefruit, lime, pine, grass and sweet malt.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: This was ok. I especially loved the aroma with that clear sweet pineapple coming through, and wished it translated into the taste as well, but instead the lime surprised me a bit and just didn’t quite match the aroma.

Evil Twin x Omnipollo Rainbownade

Brewery: Evil Twin Brewing x Omnipollo
Country: USA
ABV: 7%
Style: American IPA
Other Notes: India Pale Ale with grapefruit, passion fruit, mango, raspberry and blueberry added. Brewed for Evil Twin Brewing by Dorchester Brewing Company

Brewer Description: (from can) A refreshing drink often associated with childhood nostalgia to others a pop-cultural symbol of female emancipation. Whatever the association we teamed up with two Swedes, Henok and Karl of Omnipollo to squeeze out a tasty, tempting and deceivingly well balanced IPA with sweet and sour notes of old-fashioned memories.

Intro: A 12 fl. oz. can with no canned on or best before date. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.
Appearance: Strange colour… a hazy reddish, orange pink colour (like a dark grapefruit juice) with a two finger, very lightly pink colour head that had pretty good retention but left only sparse to no lacing.
Aroma: Berry notes of that hard candy kind, berry smoothie, and touches of grapefruit here and there.
Taste: Lightly sweet, sour, bitter and tangy. Mixed berries, passionfruit, strawberry, orange, grapefruit, citrus zest and pine.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: It’s quite nice, its almost there. The aroma was great, but there was just something in the taste that couldn’t quite pull all the fruit together to make it mesh. While not perfect, it still drinks easy and was refreshing.
