Intro: A 12 fl oz can with unfortunately no best by or canned on date. Poured into a Mikkeller pint glass. Appearance: It poured a cloudy golden straw colour with a two finger white head that had good retention and left nice stick lacing. Aroma: On the light side, but there’s tropical fruit mango and pineapple followed by some grapefruit zest and biscuit malt. Taste: Light mango flavours followed by some nice grapefruit zest bitterness and a hint of orange. Mouthfeel: Dry, light bodied with medium prickly carbonation. Overall: Great fruit flavours and very easy to drink. Would have preferred a stronger aroma, but still a good sessionable beer.

Intro: A 12 fl oz bottle with a best by date of 12th May 2016. Poured into a Moonzen teku glass. Appearance: It poured a clear copper colour with a two finger off white head that dissipated quickly but left nice sticky lacing. Aroma: Sweet caramel and bready malts with some pineapple, apple, grapefruit and pine. Taste: Mainly pine with light biscuit malt and light caramel. Citrus is there but fairly restrained. Finish is lightly bitter and spicy. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with mid to high prickly carbonation. Overall: This was just ok for me. Everything was just quite light and the flavours felt lacking.

Intro: A 12 fl oz bottle with a best by date of 7th May 2016 and poured into a Moonzen Teku glass. Appearance: It poured a clear amber copper colour with a two finger off white head that retains pretty well, leaving nice streaky lacing. Aroma: Grapefruit, pine, mandarin, apple, brown sugar and hints of pineapple and grassiness. Taste: Bready and caramel malt sweetness heavy with bitter grapefruit pith and juicy grapefruit on the finish. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Overall: This was pretty good but perhaps a bit too malt heavy for my liking.

Brewery: Ballast Point Brewing Company Country: USA ABV: 5.5% Style: American Pale Ale Other Notes: 35 IBUs. Hoppy Pale Ale.
Brewer Description: (from website) A new Pale Ale where hops run the show. Our Grunion Pale Ale wasn’t born on a beach, but in a backyard. Originating from an employee-only home brew contest, this award-winning hoppy pale ale is named after the tiny local fish known for late night frolics on shore. A pair of new hop varieties lend strong yet balanced summer melon aromas and herbal flavors, while a soft caramel malt sweetness holds it all together.
