3 Sons Raspberry Dazed

Brewery: 3 Sons Brewing Company
Country: USA
ABV: 7%
Style: Sour Ale – Smoothie

Brewer Description: (from can) Imperial sour ale with raspberries.

My rating: 4
My beeradvocate.com rating: 4.17
My ratebeer.com rating: 3.9

Intro: A 1 pint can, canned on 13th October 2020, ‘dazed & confused’. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass.
Appearance: A hazy beetroot purple colour with a one finger pinkish purple head that had decent retention, but left only sparse lacing.
Aroma: Sweet, candied, raspberry, mixed berries.
Taste: Slightly tart, sweet, jammy, candied, raspberry, mixed berries.
Mouthfeel: Creamy, medium bodied with moderate to soft carbonation.
Overall: Aroma and flavours were nice with lots of raspberry, but it was just a bit too sweet for me. Would have preferred more sour and tartness to balance out the sweetness.

3 Sons Strawberry Bling

Brewery: 3 Sons Brewing Company
Country: USA
ABV: 3.5%
Style: Gose – Fruit

Brewer Description: (from can) Gose style ale with strawberries and fleur de sel.

My rating: 4
My beeradvocate.com rating: 4.43
My ratebeer.com rating: 4.3

Intro: A 1 pint can, canned on 13th October 2020, ‘bling bling’. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass.
Appearance: A cloudy pinkish orange colour with a one finger pinkish head that had decent retention, while leaving some lacing and (I’m guessing) strawberry pulp.
Aroma: Sweet, strawberry, jammy, cucumber.
Taste: Moderately sweet, slightly tart, strawberry, jam, light saltiness.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate to soft carbonation.
Overall: I loved both the aroma and flavour as it’s very strawberry and drinks real easy. In fact it’s probably the best strawberry ‘beer’ I’ve tried, since most are pretty poor. But is it beer? As it seems much closer to fresh squeezed juice or a smoothie than a beer.

Warpigs Youreallyfuckedmeup & Imreallyfuckingfurious

Brewery: Warpigs Brewpub
Country: Denmark
ABV: 11.4%
Style: American Imperial Stout
Other Notes: Water, hops, oats, barley malt, yeast, lactose, dextrose, coffee, vanilla beans, & palm sugar

Brewer Description: (from bottle) Imperial Coffee Stout.

My rating: 4
My beeradvocate.com rating: 4.32
My ratebeer.com rating: 4.2

Intro: A 750ml black waxed bottle, with a best before date of 1st April 2021. Poured into a snifter glass.
Appearance: Black in colour with a thin brown head that dissipated quickly and left only sparse spotty lacing.
Aroma: Coffee, chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, licorice, chocolate ice cream, with caramel and sweet milk notes.
Taste: Moderately sweet, brown sugar, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, sweet milk, licorice, caramel.
Mouthfeel: Creamy, medium bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: It’s a very enjoyable sipper. But it’s a sipper more because of it’s sweetness than it’s high abv, as the alcohol is very well hidden. Aroma was excellent, and the taste matched it well.

De Molen Hel & Verdoemenis Bruichladdich (peated) BA

Brewery: Brouwerij De Molen
Country: Netherlands
ABV: 11%
Style: Russian Imperial Stout
Other Notes: Smoked Imperial Stout-ish

Brewer Description: (from bottle) Bruichladdich (peated) BA.

My rating: 4

My ratebeer.com rating: 4.3

Intro: A 330ml black waxed bottle, bottled on 19th August 2015, with a best before date of 19th August 2040. Poured into a snifter glass.
Appearance: Black in colour with no head and no lacing.
Aroma: Sweet dark malt, chocolate, coffee, light peat, leather, smoke, whisky.
Taste: Sweet dark malt, whisky, light peat, smoke, coffee, chocolate, caramel, with hints of vanilla.
Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: An enjoyable RIS with good balance of peat, that doesn’t overwhelm the nice chocolate and coffee flavours. I tried the brett version of this just before opening this bottle, and did not understand the brett. This was just so much better without the brett.

De Molen Hel & Verdoemenis Bruichladdich BA Brett

Brewery: Brouwerij De Molen
Country: Netherlands
ABV: 11%
Style: Russian Imperial Stout
Other Notes: Imperial Stout-ish

Brewer Description: (from bottle) Bruichladdich BA, brett yeast (give it some time please).

My rating: 2
My beeradvocate.com rating: 2.79
My ratebeer.com rating: 2.7

Intro: A 330ml black waxed bottle, bottled on 28th January 2016, with a best before date of 28th January 2041. Poured into a snifter glass.
Appearance: Black in colour with no head and no lacing.
Aroma: Aroma is quite complex, whisky, dark fruit, brett, dark malt, light roast, chocolate, oak, boozy.
Taste: Light roast, earthy, dark malt, chocolate, whisky, herbal, slightly sour, medicinal.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: I don’t know. The aroma was quite complex but it was on and off. Every time I took a whiff, it changed a bit. But the taste really didn’t work for me. It didn’t really come together. I tried the Bruichladdich (peated) BA after this, and that was enjoyable. The brett just didn’t do anything for me here.
