Other Notes: For this fruit lambic we macerated strawberries (30%) and cherries (70%) separately on two different oak barrels for a couple of few weeks. The fruit lambics were then blended and put on a 400 liter oak barrel for another 6 months of ageing and bottled afterwards. The fruit intensity is 500 grams of fruit per liter of bottled Bio Aardbei + Kriek. 100% 3 Fonteinen lambic. Number of bottles – 582

Brewer Description: (from bottle) Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen “Speling van het Lot” (Twist of Fate) is a series of small batch experimental brews, barrel maturations, fruit macerations and/or blends. This 9th version features a range of strawberry maceration iterations aiming at balancing the intense fruitiness of strawberries with the subtleties of traditional lambic while minimising the unpleasant phenolic characteristics of the small pits. For this fruit lambic we macerated strawberries (30%) and cherries (70%) separately on two different oak barrels for a couple of few weeks. The fruit lambics were then blended and put on a 400 liter oak barrel for another 6 months of ageing and bottled afterwards. Intro: A 750ml corked and caged bottle at 3 Fonteinen lambik-O-droom, blend n°86, season 17/18, bottled on 18th October 2018, with a best before date of 26th October 2038. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen ballon glass.
Appearance: A lightly hazy pinkish red orange colour with a thin off white head that had spotty lacing.
Aroma: Tart, strawberry, raspberry, cherry and slightly jammy.
Taste: Sour, tart, strawberry, cherry and raspberry. A little sharp, but not overly so.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: Looks and smells great. Taste was perhaps a little sharp, but overall still very enjoyable.

Other Notes: This fruit lambic is a blend of 40% strawberry lambic and 60% sour cherry (kriek)lambic. After the maceration, the fruit lambic has been bottled immediately, without blending it with young lambic. The total fruit intensity is 48%, i.e. 480 grams of fruit per liter of bottled fruit lambic. Number of bottles – 494

Brewer Description: (from bottle) Brouwerij 3 Fonteinen “Speling van het Lot” (Twist of Fate) is a series of small batch experimental brews, barrel maturations, fruit macerations and/or blends. This 7th version features a range of fruit macerations on freshly emptied Bordeaux barrels from Château Pabus. These high quality French oak barrels were used for a unique integrated vinification technique, including grape peel maceration in the barrel itself. The name (“Zotte Kadeeën” – “Crazy Kids”) refers to the abundant creativity of our youthful, passionate team, that likes to explore within the traditional lambic boundaries. This fruit lambic is a blend of 40% strawberry lambic and 60% sour cherry (kriek)lambic. After the maceration, the fruit lambic has been bottled immediately, without blending it with young lambic. The total fruit intensity is 48%, i.e. 480 grams of fruit per liter of bottled fruit lambic.

Appearance: A lightly hazy orange red colour with a thin off white head that left spotty lacing.
Aroma: Tart, jammy, strawberry, cherry and oak.
Taste: Sour, tart, strawberry, cherry and jammy.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: Nice jammy fruitiness especially in the aroma. Strawberry in beers generally hasn’t really worked for me, but this one was good.

Tilquin Mûre – Draft Version

Other Notes: Draft version

Brewer Description: (from lambic.info) Mûre Tilquin (Draught Version) is a blended, fruited lambic created by combining a low alcohol lambic beer called Meerts (from Boon) and one- and two-year old lambics. According to the blendery, it is comprised of 50% meerts and 50% lambic, in order to keep the ABV down. No 3-year-old lambic is in the draught version. The final fruit concentration is at least 350g/l of blackberries and it is typically 4.8% ABV.

Intro: A 250ml draft pour at Moeder Lambic Fontainas into a Tilquin gueuze glass.
Appearance: A bronze copper colour with a tinge of red, and a thin off white head that left sparse spotty lacing.
Aroma: Funky, lots of funk, barnyard and blackberry.
Taste: Creamy, sour, tart, blackberry and hints of lemon.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: Very nice creamy fruitiness. Very balanced and easy to drink. I enjoyed this more than the bottled version.

Cantillon Mourvèdre Carignan

Brewer Description: (from Untappd) A blend of two grape varieties. 75% Mourvèdre and 25% Carignan.

Intro: A 250ml draft pour at Moeder Lambic Fontainas into a Cantillon Gueuze glass.
Appearance: A hazy red grape wine colour with a thin pinkish head that had a lasting cover and some nice lacing.
Aroma: Grape, mixed berries and a touch of wood.
Taste: Lightly sour and tart, red grapes, mixed berries, oak, light lemon and funk on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: Very enjoyable and easy to drink.

Bokke Framboos Pjassel Kriek

Brewer Description: (from bottle) 1, 2 & 3 year old lambic with fresh raspberries, vineyard peaches and Gorsem sour cherries.

Intro: A 750ml bottle at Restaurant Barr, 2018 vintage, bottled in January 2019. Poured into a stemmed white wine glass.
Appearance: A lightly hazy ruby red colour, with a one finger pinkish head that dissipated fairly quickly while leaving sparse spotty lacing.
Aroma: Raspberry, jammy, jello, cherry, and hints of peach.
Taste: Sour, tart, raspberry, cherry, jammy, jello, candy, and a hint of peach.
Mouthfeel: Medium to light bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Wonderful fruity and jammy goodness, and although the peach may have been hidden a little, the other fruits shone through strongly. Good balance and complexity that means I could just drink this all day.
