Intro: A 750ml corked and caged bottle. Bottled in 2017. Poured into a The Lambic Basket gueuze glass.
Appearance: A hazy dark golden orange colour, with a pillowy two finger white head, that had great retention, eventually settling to a thin cap, while leaving nice lacing.
Aroma: Red apple, lemon, lime, wood shavings, damp wood, musty, funk, with notes of lemon zest.
Taste: Lightly sour, red apple, grapefruit peel, wood shavings, oak, a touch bitter, lemon zest, funk.
Mouthfeel: Smooth, medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: One of my favourite regular gueuze’s out there. Lovely aroma and flavours with a nice complexity that aligns with my palate.

Intro: A 375ml corked and caged bottle. The cork had the words Diam DX 2016 and the number 08 on it, which I think I’ve worked it out to mean Batch D, bottled in August 2016. Poured into a Cantillon Gueuze glass.
Appearance: A clear copper orange colour with a half finger white head that dissipated fairly quickly, but settles to a thin replenishing layer with sparse lacing.
Aroma: Sour-ish, raisins, green apple, pear, vinegar, oak and hints of cheese.
Taste: Tart and lightly sour, apple cider vinegar, apple core, lemon peel, grass and oak with a sweet-ish raisin, prune like finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate to low carbonation.
Overall: Aroma and taste was very different to all other Gueuze’s that I’ve tried and in this case, was just not really my thing, especially the dark fruit like sweetness and apple cider vinegar. I’d just stick with the Black Label version.

Brewer Description: (from bottle) Minimum of 150g of cherries with pits per finished liter.

Intro: A 375ml corked and caged bottle. The cork had the words Diam AX 2017 and the number 01 on it, which I think I’ve worked it out to mean Batch A, bottled in January 2016. Poured into a Cantillon ballon glass.
Appearance: A clear ruby red colour with a one finger pinkish head that dissipates quickly while leaving some lacing.
Aroma: Cherry Lifesaver hard candy. What this means is cherry, almond and lightly artificial, although this aroma is right up my alley.
Taste: Sour cherry and grapes with an interesting hint of vanilla.
Mouthfeel: Crisp, light bodied with moderate to high carbonation.
Overall: The aroma was wonderful, and while the taste didn’t quite match up to the aroma, it was still great to drink.

Intro: A 375ml corked and caged bottle. The cork has the words Diam EX 2016, and the number 09 on it, which I think I’ve worked out to be Batch E, bottled in September 2015. Poured into a Cantillon ballon glass.
Appearance: A clear dark pinkish red colour with a very thin pink head that dissipates quickly while leaving some lacing.
Aroma: Raspberry jam with perhaps hints of grape juice.
Taste: Sour raspberries and grape juice to begin, followed by sweet-ish berries with hints of wood.
Mouthfeel: Crisp, light bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Refreshing and nice to drink. Good balance between sour and sweet.

Brewer Description: Could not find much information. Not even a website for Girardin…

Intro: A 375ml bottle with the numbers 2016 and 09 on different locations on the cork. Haven’t been able to find a consensus on what this means exactly. Poured into a Lindemans flute glass.
Appearance: It poured a clear copper brown colour with a thin tanned head that kind of sticks around and leaves some nice lacing.
Aroma: Had a hard time trying to describe this, but I would say fruity plum, prunes and apple, light tartness, butterscotch and brown sugar.
Taste: Candi sugar, plum and apples. Sweet and lightly tart.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with light carbonation.
Overall: This was an ok Faro. I’m actually in two minds as to whether I really I enjoyed this though. After going through the whole bottle, I’m on the fence.
