Style: Lambic – Gueuze
Other Notes: Cuvée Héritage 2021

Brewer Description: (from Untappd) Our very first gueuze since our family stopped brewing in 1964. This is a hommage to a past and lost tradition. But a heritage not yet forgotten. This Gueuze is a traditional blend of young and old lambics. This unique blend, exhibits exceptional complexity and aging potential.

Intro: A 750ml corked and capped bottle, 2021 vintage. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen gueuze glass.
Appearance: A slightly hazy golden orange colour with a one finger white head, that had good retention, and eventually settled to a nice fluffy cap, while leaving nice lacing.
Aroma: Tart, apple peel, funky, barnyard, wood, with notes of gooseberry.
Taste: Sour, tart, apple, gooseberry, lime, funky, wood, a touch herbal, with a salty finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate to soft carbonation.
Overall: Quite different to other gueuzes that I’ve tried, but the flavours are still good, with some nice complex layers.

Intro: A 750ml corked and capped bottle, 2021 vintage, with a best before date of 16th January 2027. Poured into a Tilquin stemmed glass.
Appearance: A nice red colour with a slight orange tinge, and a one finger very light pink head that had pretty good retention, while leaving some lacing.
Aroma: Lightly sweet and tart, cherry, apple peel, and fresh cut red apples.
Taste: Begins lightly sweet, red apple, apple peel, then a touch sour and tart, cherry.
Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: The cider dominates the lambic but doesn’t overwhelm it. It feels like about 70% cider to 30% lambic, and it was a good proportion as the aroma and flavours were good, and it drank really easy.

Intro: A 750ml corked and capped bottle, 2021 vintage, with a best before date of 23rd January 2027. Poured into a Tilquin stemmed glass.
Appearance: A clear dark golden orange colour with a just over one finger beige head that had good retention and left some lacing.
Aroma: Sweetish, blackcurrant, Ribena, blackberry, green vines, wet wood, with notes of orange peel.
Taste: Tart, lightly sour, blackcurrant skin, blackberry, green vines, wet wood, and a touch of funk.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate to high carbonation.
Overall: Loved the aroma, but the taste didn’t quite hit the same heights as the fruits didn’t seem as ripe or sweet. I also felt the carbonation was a touch too high for my palate.

Intro: A 750ml corked and capped bottle, 2021 vintage, with a best before date of 23rd January 2027. Poured into a Tilquin stemmed glass.
Appearance: A lightly hazy golden colour, with a big two finger white head that had good retention and left some nice lacing.
Aroma: Sweet, honey, green apple, apple cider, musty, funk, with a splash of lemon.
Taste: Moderately sweet, honey, green apple, apple cider, sweet and sour, candied lemon, woody, with light funky notes.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with fizzy moderate to high carbonation.
Overall: First time trying a lambic, cider and mead blend, and I think it works quite well, with an interesting sweet and sour feeling. The only thing I’d say with the 2021 blend, was that the carbonation was perhaps a bit too much.
