Intro: A 330ml can, with a best before date of 12th November 2021. Poured into a Holy Mountain tulip glass.
Appearance: A hazy orange pinkish colour with a two finger white head that dissipated quickly and left only sparse to no lacing.
Aroma: Tart and sweet, fruited ice cream, peach gummy rings, passionfruit, raspberry and vanilla.
Taste: Tart, fruity, juicy, sweet. Sour peach gummy rings, raspberry, vanilla, sugar.
Mouthfeel: Creamy, light bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Nice fruitiness, but a bit too sweet candy like, and not enough ‘milkshake’ for me.

Intro: A 330ml can, canned on 22nd October 2020, and with a best before date of 22nd July 2021. Poured into a Holy Mountain tulip glass.
Appearance: A nice hazy golden straw orange colour with an almost two finger white head that had pretty good retention and left some nice lacing.

Taste: Lightly sweet and lightly sour, lemonade, lemon zest, lactose, vanilla, lightly bitter finish.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Very enjoyable and extremely easy to drink. It’s as it says, a lemonade milkshake. I wish I got to try a can earlier as it’s about 7 weeks old now.

Lervig Freakshake

Brewery: Lervig Aktiebryggeri
Country: Norway
ABV: 6.5%
Style: American Milkshake IPA
Other Notes: Hops – Citra and Galaxy

Brewer Description: (from description on ratebeer) This milkshake IPA was inspired by Australia’s “Freakshakes” that throw every treat imaginable into a mashup of drink and dessert. So we took all our best malts, lactose, a squirt of vanilla, and the cherry on top is hundreds of kilos of Citra and Australia’s most sought after hop, the ultra-tropical Galaxy. Hoppy, super full-bodied and tropical, you might want to drink it with a straw.

Intro: A 500ml can, canned on 9th September 2019 and with a best before date of 9th June 2020. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.
Appearance: A hazy straw orange colour with a two finger white head that had decent retention while leaving some lacing.
Aroma: Vanilla, lactose, light tropical fruit, mango and peach.
Taste: Moderately sweet, vanilla, lactose, hints of tropical fruit and a light bitter finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium to light bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: A little bit too sweet from the vanilla and lactose flavours. The tropical fruits were kind of weak for me and it would have been much better if it was stronger as it would have helped balance the sweetness.

Intro: A 330ml bottle with a best before date of 23rd November 2016 and poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass.
Appearance: Actually I had to pour it twice. The first pour was going fine until three quarters in, suddenly there were some big blobs of sediment which appeared quite gross really. So I waited for it to settle a bit, before pouring that into another Spiegelau IPA glass with much less but only finer sediment. It was a hazy golden yellow colour with a one finger white head with some light lacing. As a note, after re-pouring, I let the first glass settle for about 10 minutes, and there was about a one finger layer of sediment on the bottom… it was a lot.
Aroma: Strong tropical fruitiness with guava, strawberry, mango and passionfruit with a hint of citrus orange peel.
Taste: Lightly sour strawberries with some bitterness but other than that, the flavours kind of disappeared.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied with medium carbonation.
Overall: I don’t know if this batch that was sent to Hong Kong went bad or what not. I am fine with hazy and cloudy beers, but not big blob sediment which just does not look good. In addition, there was even A LOT of fine sediment. Other than that, aromas actually seemed great while the taste was disappointing especially when compared to #4:21 Raspberry Smoothie IPA which was stunningly good, and the slightly lesser but still good #4:11 Wild Strawberry/Rhubarb/Vanilla Smoothie IPA.
