Brewer Description: (from can) Beyond The Pale, our yearly celebration of New Zealand’s fabulous fringe festival and the perfect excuse to brew something a little ‘out there’… even a little bizzare. This year, for the organoleptic delight of the avant garde drinker, we present Strange Ways – a kettle soured beer infused with raspberry, tomato and basil. Odd bedfellows indeed, but the result is a distinctly refreshing sour beer with a truly unique fruity twist. Strange Ways here we come.

Intro: A 330ml can, with a best before date of 27th November 2018. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.
Appearance: A hazy pale orange pinkish colour with a two finger very slightly off white head that dissipated fairly quickly but left some nice lacing.
Aroma: Tart raspberries with maybe a hint of tomato.
Taste: Sour, tart, raspberry and lemon juice with a touch of tomato juice at the end.
Mouthfeel: Crisp, light bodied with high carbonation.
Overall: Refreshing and very easy to drink with nice fruity flavours. Carbonation might be a bit too high, but not a big problem. I’m only getting hints of the tomato but none of the basil, which was unfortunate since raspberry and basil is a good combo.

Brewer Description: (from bottle) Be blown away with this refreshingly crisp brisk lager brewed with southern hops and Yunnan Raw Pu’er tea. Be overflowed by its fragrance and soar like an immortal.

Intro: A 330ml bottle, with a best before date of 27th March 2019. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.
Appearance: A hazy golden pale straw yellow colour with a just over one finger white head that had decent retention and left some nice lacing.
Aroma: Grainy, floral, lemon, grass, pear and tea leaves.
Taste: Grainy, grass, lemon, Chinese tea leaves, with hints of floral and wood here and there.
Mouthfeel: Crisp, light bodied and highly carbonated.
Overall: Nice drinking for a hot summer day. Light and crisp, maybe a tad bit too carbonated, but easy flavours to quench thirst.

Other Notes: Brewed by Omnipollo at De Proef Brouwerij (Belgium)

Brewer Description: (from Omnipollo Instagram) Dreamt up with our sweet angel creative genius life mates at Tired Hands Brewing Co. back in March 2015. Brewed with wheat, oats and lactose sugar. Conditioned atop vanilla and exceedingly aromatic raspberry. Consumingly hopped with Mosaic and Citra.

Intro: A 500ml can, with a best before date of 28th March 2019. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.
Appearance: A very nice looking cloudy ruby red colour with a two and a half finger pinkish head that had good retention and left lots of nice sticky lacing.
Aroma: Mixed berries, raspberry flavoured candy and berry jammy.
Taste: Tart, raspberry unset jello liquid, raspberry candy sweetness, jammy with a touch of sourness at the end.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. There is a tinge of alcohol on the back end.
Overall: Nice looking, nice aroma and good flavours. Not really much of an IPA though, and seems closer to a Fruit Beer.

Brewer Description: (from can) New England Style India Pale Ale.

Intro: A 500ml can, with a best before date of 14th February 2019. Poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass.
Appearance: A hazy golden orange colour with a big three finger white head that had good retention and left lots of nice sticky lacing.
Aroma: Orange peel, rind, apricot, mango and hints of grass.
Taste: Grass, pine, apricot, lightly bitter, orange rind and peel, and lemon zest.
Mouthfeel: Creamy, medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Nice flavours and enjoyable. I did glance over a lot of reviews saying that it was overly sweet. Made me wonder if we are drinking different beers!

Intro: A 330ml can, with a best before date of 25th January 2019. Poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass.
Appearance: A hazy golden dark orange colour with a two finger white head that had good retention and left some nice lacing.
Aroma: Underripe mango, pineapple, orange peel, grapefruit, pine and grass.
Taste: Sweet, mango, fuzzy peach, pineapple, bitter, orange, grapefruit peel and rind, and lime with a touch of grass.
Mouthfeel: Creamy, medium bodied and moderate carbonation.
Overall: A decent DIPA.
