Intro: A 375ml bottle with a best before date of 7th September 2027. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass.
Appearance: A cloudy dark golden orange colour with a two finger beige head that dissipated fairly quickly and left sparse to no lacing.
Aroma: Tart, sour, funky, mango, apricot with a touch of oak, lemon and vinegar.
Taste: Tart, sour, acidic, lemon, sour orange, vinegar and funk with hints of mango and apricot.
Mouthfeel: Acidic (maybe a bit too much), medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: I have no idea what sea buckthorn tastes like, but this was quite interesting with tart and sour citrus plus hints of tropical fruit. However, it was also on the verge of being overly sharp with acidity and vinegar, which definitely held it back.

My ratebeer.com rating: 3.9

Intro: A 375ml bottle with a best before date of 21st September 2027. Poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass.
Appearance: A murky dark orange brown colour with a two finger beige head that dissipated fairly quickly, but left only sparse to no lacing.
Aroma: Tart, lightly sweet and sour, strawberry yoghurt, lightly lactic, peachy and a touch floral.
Taste: Tart, peach, oak, yoghurt with a hint of funk and vinegar.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Very different to all others in the Spontan lineup with its lactic and yoghurty notes and also a whole lot less funky. I’m not sure what rosehip is supposed to smell or taste like, but this beer was pretty nice.
