Brewer Description: (from can) Gweilo Citrus Crusher is our refreshing, lighter, go-to beer. Additions of Mandarina Bavaria, Citra and grapefruit puree bring subtle citrus notes to the light ale base. It’s an ideal brew to crush on a warm day.

Intro: A 330ml can with a best before date of 9th April 2020. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.
Appearance: A hazy golden straw yellow colour with a two finger white head that had decent retention while leaving some lacing.
Aroma: Light mango, mandarin peel and citrus zest.
Taste: Light flavours, citrus zest, mandarin peel, a touch of grains and a hint of stone fruit.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: Even though it’s a Session IPA, light and refreshing, and while there’s nothing exactly wrong with the aroma and taste, I’d still expect it to be stronger and more prominent than what currently shows.

Brewer Description: (from bottle) An intense hop flavored Black IPA brewed with black malts, sea salt and Akha Ama coffee beans.

Intro: A 330ml bottle with a best before date of 21st January 2020. Poured into a Lost Abbey teku glass.
Appearance: Dark dark brown to black in colour with a two finger beige head that had good retention and left lots of nice lacing.
Aroma: Light to moderate roast, coffee, piney hops, and lightly citrusy and floral.
Taste: What you’d expect from the aromas, light roasted malts, cocoa, coffee, piney hops, citrusy grapefruit and a touch floral.
Mouthfeel: Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: A nice Black IPA with a good balance between the roastiness, piney hops and citrus.

Intro: A 1 pint can, canned on 1st February 2019. Poured into a snifter glass.
Appearance: Dark brown to black in colour with a one finger tanned head that dissipated fairly quickly but left lots of spotty lacing.
Aroma: Roasty, coffee, cocoa, chocolate, vanilla, with a hint of nuts.
Taste: Moderate sweetness, very light roast, bakers chocolate, vanilla, coffee and only a hint of nuts.
Mouthfeel: Creamy, full bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: Sweetness, chocolate and vanilla seem to dominate, and there was coffee, but I was hoping for more roastiness and nuts to balance the sweetness.

Brewer Description: (from can) Italy has a certain ‘Je ne sais quoi’ – fab food culture, highly decadent history of art and cool countryside. Some might argue the people are loud and flamboyant, they steal our women, the soccer players melodramatically flop on the pitch. Listen – that’s all part of the secret Italian ingredient – keep it cool, confident, arrogant and extravagant. Forza Italia.

Intro: A 1 pint can, batch #001, but with no clear canned on or best before date. Poured into a snifter glass.
Appearance: Black in colour with a one finger brown head that dissipated fairly quickly but left some spotty lacing.
Aroma: Chocolate, cocoa, roasted malts, coffee, hazelnut and vanilla.
Taste: Moderate sweetness, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, brown sugar, with a touch of hazelnuts and a hint of chili on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: Nice chocolate and coffee aromas. Taste has a nice chili kick but perhaps slightly on the sweet side for me.

Brewer Description: (from can) A few times in the history of craft beer a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, molasses, pecan extract and obviously only made in limited amounts. People – this is the taste of rare!

Aroma: Sweet, caramel, toffee, chocolate, nutty, nougat, cocoa, light roast.
Taste: Moderately sweet, roast, butterscotch, toffee, caramel, vanilla, nutty, pecan, hint of dark fruits with a lightly bitter finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with soft carbonation.
Overall: Perhaps on the verge of being too sweet for me with the butterscotch and dark fruit flavours. Pecan extract was used but the nuttiness was not as strong as I would have hoped for.
